Project background
The activities on solar energy for cooking has been part of a collaboration on research and education in Energy Technology with a group of African universities. The projects have been financed under the NORAD programs (NUFU, NOMA, EnPe, NORPART, NORHED, the Norwegian Research Council programs (EnergiX, NORDGLOBAL) and EU (Erasmus+).
The list of projects are: (see Project history):
- NUFU: Small scale concentrating solar energy systems (2007-2012, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique).
- NUFUSM: Renewable energy resources and their development (2007-2008, South Africa).
- NOMA: Master program in renewable energy. (Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, cross linked with the NUFU project).
- NORGLOBAL: Cooking with the sun- A comparative analysis of implementing solar cookers (2009-2012, South Africa, Mozambique). Coordinated with the NUFU project.
- EnergiX: Small scale concentrating solar energy systems (2007-2010, South Africa) Support for the NUFU project.
- Quota Scheme provided very useful support to the NUFU/EnPE projects in the way that PhD work could also be made at NTNU (3 PhDs on renewable energy, 2008-2015).
- EnPe I: MSc program within renewable energy technology (2009-2014, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique).
- EnPe II: Capacity building in Renewable Energy Education and Research (2015-2020, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique). Coordination by MU.
- EnPe II: Master program in Oil and Gas Technology (2015-2020, Tanzania). Coordination by UDSM.
- EiT-M, ReWISE: PhD collaboration Mekelle University (2018-2020, Ethiopia).
The current projects are:
